circle  April: The Evolutionary Step

(to his translator/assistant) Right, do you have some written questions for me?

Translator: Mmn-hmn. (holding out two letters)

Is that all you have?

Translator: Yes.

Things are changing! I always tell people in the other seminars, where I get either no questions or just one or two questions, ”Why can’t you be like the Czechs? They always give me at least twenty questions.” And now I have only got two. I am going to go on strike! (to translator) Go ahead.

(translator reads out the first letter)

Dear Michael. Please advise me about how to live more enthusiastically. It’s extremely difficult to put away barriers protecting me from free-flowing through my life. How to leave out the controlling of everything by thinking, by ego, despite many past seminars? Thank you, and love to you and to all Geese. Mandra

Well, the very question is part of the problem. You want me to give you an answer that you can use – and then it’s still control.

If I say to you, ”What you want to do is this: every morning you run up to the top of that hill and down twenty times, and at lunch time you wheel around in a circle a hundred times, and then in the evening drink six glasses of beer, and if you do that every day for a month then your troubles will be over,” probably they would be, but by then you’d have a whole lot of new troubles.

You’re asking for a method. And that’s just your problem: that you’re in control. And as I was saying in the talk that I gave on Saturday morning, your mind cannot bring you these beautiful things in life. Your mind cannot bring you bliss, and it cannot bring you love, and it cannot bring you a union with everything, it cannot bring you peace.

So your letter is very intelligent, you are a very intelligent person, and what I am asking you to do right now is to be extremely intelligent. I’m not telling you that you’re stupid and not to listen to your thoughts, I’m saying be very, very intelligent. To see that the mind can’t bring you these things is tremendously intelligent.

So what happens if you don’t try to run your life with your mind and through controlling? Just imagine right now that you are not using your mind at all in this moment. Just close your eyes now.

(beautiful bird-song can be heard in the background) Can you hear the birds singing? Especially for you. (vehicles are roaring by on the road outside) Can you hear the traffic? There’s a car going by, especially for you. Can you feel your body breathing without any help from your mind?

Keep your eyes closed.

Can you feel and hear your heart beating? Do you need to think to experience those things? Can you control those things? Can you control the birds? Can you control the traffic? Do you need to control your breathing? Can you control your heartbeat? Life just goes along. And it will take you with it if you let it.

It is really just one step, Mandra. It is just one step – into that space where you are just with what is happening. And then you are open to things that lie outside the mind.

Your mind is not even yours. Your mind belongs to the human race, it belongs to the Czech Republic, to Europe, to westernised thinking and values, to your parents, to your teachers. If you lived in a different place and had been brought up in a different culture, your mind would be working completely differently, and yet you think it knows the truth. It just knows a way of dealing with reality that sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. And it’s full of choices and prejudices, and is not open to everything at all, it just picks out what fits. And then when you control, you just go on and on and on picking out the same things for the whole of your life.

Enter this magic moment. It is there before your mind starts working. Your mind does not tell you what is reality, it just extracts something from reality that fits what’s already in your mind. So it is very limiting.

Now, you can do what I’m pointing to. You are not lost. You are caught, but you’re not lost. You have the power to come out. The same power that you use in your mind can bring you out. But your power right now, you invest in the mind.

You have a lot of power, and you invest it in the mind, and then you tell me this is not bringing you what you want. And I say: then use your power, and invest it in what is outside the mind – in the beat of life that is there each moment. Come on! I’m waiting for you. Come on!

(translator reads out the second letter)

Michael, I would like to ask you if your Work has also positive health effects, and if you can heal your body through it. Zbynek

Well, how delightfully the birds sing. They sing a lot more delightfully than they did before I was involved in the Work. You know, I sit and stand here in this seminar each time I come, and I look out of this window here, which I’m happy to say gives a view of many trees and hills and green, and when I do that my heart sings, and I feel that I am in paradise. Always. Every time. This happens to me so often. And also at home, when I look out of my window in my working room out on to our beautiful garden at home, it’s like paradise. And I think that to be able to experience that like I do, so often, I must be very healthy. And then when I get some pains in my body and I look out of the window, I think, ”I’m very healthy.” So it’s a question of what you mean by health.

Of course it’s true that if the body does not stay well, then the body will deteriorate and complete itself, it will finish, and then you can’t experience paradise any more, because you don’t have a body. That’s true. But if when you die you go to paradise anyway, then you won’t lose anything. (chuckles) Right up until the last minute you’re looking out of the window and thinking, ”This is paradise.” The body’s in a terrible mess, it’s falling apart, and you think, ”This is paradise,” and then you die. And the moment you die, you immediately enter paradise somewhere else. So what have you lost?

Now, I’m very surprised to hear myself saying this, because if you’d have asked me this question a few years ago, five years ago, ten years ago, six years ago, four years ago, even three years ago – two, I don’t know; maybe not two years ago – I would have said to you, ”This is the most important thing in my life: how to bring this Work that I do into a human being in such a way that it heals their body.” ”This,” I would have said, ”is the most important exploration in my life.” But suddenly it isn’t. For you, it may be. So please continue. But for me, it is not so important any more.

Now, I know that my Work, that I’ve been doing now for more than thirty years, has done well for my body. I mean, considering what I do with my life, all the unhealthy things that I do, considering that I don’t take any special care of my body… I don’t jog, I don’t do gymnastics. I play tennis when I can, and I go for walks sometimes, but apart from that I don’t do anything for my body. But my body is part of me. So during these few days with you, as you may have noticed, my body has also been here. (chuckles) And when I’m doing my crazy work, and whipping energy around the room, I’m not standing stiffly on the spot, my body is involved. Even when I talk my body is involved. So my body is part of what is going on. And when I look at my body and say, ”What can I do for this body to make it more healthy?” then I am immediately divided. I am up here somewhere saying, ”What can I do for this thing down there?” – as if it’s some kind of painting that’s deteriorating and I have to touch it up again. It is part of me. So as long as I feel that there’s a wholeness…

I mean, I don’t live from my mind, I don’t live from my heart, like some of you lovely, beautiful, emotional people, I don’t live from my genitals – only sometimes. (laughter) Well, no, never, because they’re also part of the whole system. I feel I live as a whole person, and my body is part of that. So in a way, whatever I do with my body which other people tell me I shouldn’t, my body is choosing to do. It’s not just that my mind is saying to my body, ”Drink this coffee! I’ve got to have coffee, so you take this coffee and you put it in your stomach.” We drink coffee, we drink wine, and we sometimes smoke a beedie – to name just a few of my sins.

You see? So as long as I feel there’s a wholeness, I let my body just roll along with everything else. And so far, that’s working out all right. Now, if I were to get something spectacularly wrong with my body, then maybe I would have to rearrange things, I don’t know. But right now I feel that even though I have some troubles in my body, some pains and stiffness and so on, I feel it’s all rolling along together okay. Someone might say, ”Well, look Michael, if you were to give up coffee and beedies, your body would be healthier,” but I don’t know if my body wants to be healthier than it is. I don’t know if my body is saying, ”Never mind the rest of you, I have to live as long as possible – I want to live until I’m a hundred and forty years old.” I mean, the rest of me would not enjoy that.

So it’s a whole life, and everything is included.

Now, when it comes to other people’s bodies then it’s different. In my time of working with energy, over more than thirty years now, there have been hundreds of cases of people telling me that physical troubles they’ve had for years and years have vanished. But I haven’t done any special healing on them. I don’t even ask people about their health unless they tell me what is wrong with them physically.

For example, just the other day in a group someone was telling me that they couldn’t lift their arms higher than this. (lifting his arms out at right angles to his body) And then after working with me for a few seminars they had no trouble at all in their arms. Their arms could go straight up in the air like this (demonstrating), and dance around – for the first time in twenty years. But I didn’t do any special work on her arms. The whole person changed, in the same way I have just been talking about myself. The whole person changed, and out of that change, whatever it was that was incapacitating her and preventing her simply got out of the way and now she can lift her arms normally.

So I’m talking about the body not being separate. But everybody in this room knows – not everybody in the world knows, not everybody in your village or town knows, but you guys certainly know – that when we get something wrong with our body it’s often partly emotional or psychological difficulty that is causing the trouble. So if emotional difficulties or psychological neuroses are creating the physical illness, and then you do something directly to heal the body, then the neurosis or the emotional troubles are going to put the physical problem straight back again, or put something else back there instead. The whole self is producing the trouble in some way, so what’s the good of treating the physical illness as if it is separate from every other part of the person?

So when I say that if you change your energy then you are open to things like bliss and love, well, that’s a big jump. From feeling sad and miserable and blocked to suddenly feeling bliss is a fantastic transformation. To love just one or two people, or attractive people of the opposite sex and that’s all, this is one thing; to suddenly find it doesn’t matter who the person is – young, old, thin, fat, what their politics are, what their beliefs are, what their value system is, that you can meet a person in such a way that you simply feel love moving, that’s an incredible step. So it’s quite possible when making such a step that you would also step out of some physical problem, because the physical problem belongs to the mentality and the way that you saw life before, and when you have another view of life then that particular trouble cannot exist. It has no place to go. So you’ve had no physical treatment whatsoever, and suddenly the problem has gone. This has happened a thousand times in my life.

So to separate the body and say, ”How can I do something with the Energy Work to heal this little pain I have in my shoulder here?” for me, is ridiculous. Sure, if I have a trouble there, I can go to an osteopath or whatever and have it eased, but I know that’s not solving the problem. So what I am saying to the man who has asked this question is that we are whole beings, and body is one aspect, and mind is another aspect, and feelings are another aspect, and the energy space is another aspect, and the spiritual state of being is another aspect.

You know, the world of energy is another world altogether. You’ve no idea, really – you just taste it a bit. I mean, there are things happening on this level that you can’t imagine. I get you to make a circle in the seminar, and there’s a person over here, and I see suddenly a wave of energy going bom-bom-bom-bom-bom to them from you. You may not even have met this person, really, apart from being in the group, you may not know this person at all, you may never in your life have had any contact with this person, but there’s a huge exchange going on between you. And I am aware of all these things. Of course there are many things that I am not aware of, but I’m aware of a lot of these things that are going on.

You know, it’s like you can look at a map of Europe, and there’s Germany here, and there’s the Czech Republic over there, and there’s England up there, and there’s Denmark and Sweden up at the top, and you look at the map and say, ”Yeah, yeah, I’ve been to a lot of those places. I know my way around.” But I see a whole completely different map: a map of the energy in the room. And this energy includes your body, it includes your psychology, it includes your emotions, it includes your being, it includes your relationship with all other living beings. So sensitivity to that, which comes through the Energy Work that we’re doing, and other people who come from my tradition, like Mushin and Moa and Tiago are doing – other methods too, but particularly the method of connecting through Energy Work – can lead, for some of you anyway, into this world of energy where you can also see and make these connections, and bring people together and connect them, and clear them from one person to another and with the group energy also. You can do this, because it’s all there to be seen.

So my final words to you are these. Set your sights as high as you can. If you get a few gains, don’t be satisfied. The reality that we can experience as human beings can open up, and open up, and open up. And of course, I would like everybody in this room, and everybody everywhere who I have some influence over, to be able to say, ”Every time I look out of the window and see the trees, I am in paradise. And when I’m in my great space, wherever I look I feel the only thing moving in me, or the main thing moving in me towards people is simply love. It is not that I love them in the ordinary way because they are this or that, it is that I am on the level where that is what flows between one part of the universe and another. I don’t choose to love, I don’t say I do love, I just find that I’m in that movement of love.”

And then really what wars can there ever be again? What conflicts? What prejudices can exist when what flows is love? How can there be such things?

So it is not just some far-out, crazy, esoteric trip we’re on. It’s really, I tell you, really, it’s simply an evolution of humanity – an evolution in the consciousness, which is an evolution beyond ordinary consciousness into a dimension of reality that has always been there but for some reason we have not fallen into. And when many people do fall into it, then that will be the next step in human evolution. And I am happy to have made a contribution to that, and I hope that you will all do so too, because it is needed.
